Reservation and payment
A 25% non -refundable deposit secures your place with balance due 60 days before departure. We accept payment by electronic bank transfer (EFT) or Mastercard/Visa. If you are paying by credit card there is a 3% extra charge added on the total cost. You are welcome to contact us to arrange a payment plan if you prefer to pay in more than 2 instalments.
Cancellation policy
Your 25% sign up deposit payment is non- refundable should you cancel your place due to personal reasons. From 1-45 days prior to the departure date of your trip your balance of payment cannot be refunded as at this stage we will have paid all our suppliers.
We therefore highly recommend you take out travel insurance cover upon confirmation of your booking in case you need to cancel your trip.
Should your trip be cancelled on our side due to unforeseen circumstances ( natural disasters/pandemics/human conflict etc.) we will offer you alternative dates of travel as a postponement. Alternatively we will endeavor to refund you as much as possible keeping in mind that every situation is unique and dependent on what we can negotiate with our local partners and suppliers.
Covid related Cancellations:
Should you be unable to travel due to Covid related illness we will offer you a voucher to the full value of your trip less 10% processing fee which you can use for a future date to travel on any of our scheduled or tailor made tours.
Should your trip be cancelled on our side 45 days+ due to Covid travel restriction we will offer you a full refund less 10% processing fee on your deposit payment. Should this cancellation take place within 45 days prior to your departure and your balance of payment has been made we will offer you alternative dates of travel as a postponement or alternatively endevour to refund you as much as possible dependant on what we can negotiate with our local partners and suppliers.
Again, we highly recommend taking out travel insurance cover.
Insurance
It is compulsory to take out medical insurance when you are traveling in or to Africa. You will need to provide us with your policy and emergency contact prior to your departure.
Cancellation Insurance (i.e.) covering your flight tickets, luggage etc. is definitely recommended but not mandatory.
Important notes on liability
(1) Retreat to Africa, our representatives, employees and agents will take no responsibility for any costs, losses incurred or suffered by the guest, or guest’s dependents or travelling companions, with regards to: cancellation or curtailment of the travel itinerary services, emergency evacuation expenses medical expenses, repatriation expenses, damage/theft/loss of personal baggage, money and goods. Guests will be charged directly by the relevant service providers for any emergency services they may require and may find themselves in a position unable to access such services should they not be carrying the relevant insurance cover.
(2) Retreat to Africa assumes no liability whatsoever for an injury, damage, loss, accident or delay to person or property.
Flights, visas & vaccinations
You are in charge of booking all of your own international and local flights. We ask that you try and arrive at least one day in advance of your tour departure, more if you can as there is so much to see and do especially in Cape Town. We will meet you on arrival for your airport transfer.
International travelers will need to check with their relevant consulates concerning visa entry requirements.
Please consult your doctor for advice on malaria precautions and vaccinations before your trip. If you take any special medication please pack enough supplies to last. Yellow fever certificates will be required for entry into southern African countries if you have travelled through the Yellow Fever belt.
